Season's Round Up # 63: OSCAR de la RENTA FALL-WINTER 2013
THE biggest piece of news during #NYFW and I think one of the most watched - the collaboration of renowned and lauded designer Oscar de la Renta and John Galliano. Galliano has been MIA for quite a while since his dismissal from Dior a couple of years back and he's now back to wreak glorified fashion mayhem by taking residency with Mr. de la Renta. Rumours even suggest that he can be tapped as a potential successor of the master designer himself down the line. Exciting isn't it? Well if this first showing is any indication then I must say leaving Dior proves to be beneficial to Galliano[and de la Renta if I can say so myself!]. The first few looks that sashayed down the runway screams drama and silhouettes that Galliano is well known for. Notice the quirky hats [that I absolutely must have!], cinched waists and Red Riding Hood [or should I say grey?] inspired cloaks - easily attributable to Galliano's design touch.
Well, over and above the strong opening, the collection is simply beautiful. Grandiose and powerful without becoming overbearing. I can't even select fave looks because the whole show is just simply too amazing! You'll just have to watch the entire clip as every minute is worth it. Truly - I think the future is bright for Galliano and even brighter for de la Renta's label.
