PRADA MADE in INDIA

Passing by Prada Ion a few weeks back, I spotted the most delectable pair of shoes I've laid my eyes on for Spring-Summer 2012. Prada, known for reinventing the Creeper Brogues a few seasons ago has outdone themselves by launching a version made in India.

Complementing the Chikan embroidery collection, the Prada Made in India footwear line is available in a range of multicolored woven pieces - from the Creeper Brogues to ballerina flats. The line is handmade, woven in small artisanal workshops in India using a traditional technique of weaving available in the region.

The detail on each pair of shoes is amazing and you will see that for the price it retails, it's definitely worth it given the high quality of materials used topped by the painstaking process used to craft comfortable and fashionable pieces such as these. The color palette this season is apparently inspired by a festival called "Holi" - a spring festival celebrated with striking colors.

From what I know, apart from the combination of cream & myriads of pink as you see in the photos there are various versions available in store. The catch? You'll have to wait 2-3 months depending on the availability and you'll need to order these runway pieces. The Creeper Brogues are worth SGD 1650 a pair, which in my opinion, is worth it given the craftsmanship of the collection.

On a more contemplative thought, I wonder which country Miuccia will next collaborate with? Pardon my bias, but I do hope she thinks of collaborating with the Philippines in the near future. There are numerous crafts available in the country - waiting to be explored and propelled into the world of high & luxury fashion!
