PART 2: THE FASHION LOVER'S TOP ONLINE SHOPPING SITES

Mega 2012 Collaboration
Mega 2012 Collaboration

One of my dear friends, Apples Aberin - PR maven and Project Runway Philippines Judge - gave me an amazing opportunity to collaborate with her on her blog for MEGA Philippines. The world of online shopping is fast growing and brands, designers and retailers are seeing the importance of being available and present in the world wide web. The question is - how do you filter? And how do you know which are the best sites to go to? Well, that's what we featured on Apples' blog - an extensive list of online shopping sites that I deemed of note. It's the creme de la creme of the online retail scene - nothing but the best of the best!

To find out more, you can click on the photo above and it will direct you to the feature we have on Apples' blog. We featured top shopping sites such as Net-a-Porter and Luisaviaroma, among others that I thought had the BEST selection and most differentiated offers online. That being said, there are a TON more options available out there and since we couldn't feature everything on Apples' blog, here's a list of some of the other sites, which I thought is worth the visit:

MYTHERESA (www.mytheresa.com)

MyTheresa is another online site to consider and is pretty much a mirror of the Net-a-Porter brand. Though relatively a latecomer in the scene, launching back in 2006, it offers competitive pricing vs. shops and other online shopping sites, as well as an excellent array of high fashion options. One of it’s biggest competitive advantage as compared to Net-a-Porter and LVR is that it’s one of the few, if not the only recognized luxury online retail shop, that offers pieces from Balenciaga and Tod’s online. In my books, that’s huge! Think about it, Balenciaga bags on a discount – why not?! My only concern about the site is that it doesn’t include local taxes when shipped internationally so be very careful and make the right computations before purchasing. Other than that, go go go surf and shop!

THE OUTNET (www.theoutnet.com)

Outlet shopping is definitely one of my must do’s when travelling abroad. I don’t know of anyone who wouldn’t go to an outlet when in the US or Europe – you basically find designer pieces for a fraction of the cost. Well, now you don’t need to wait for a trip abroad to be able to do that. The brainchild of the same group that brought to life the Net-a-Porter and Mr. Porter has launched The Outnet. It is basically an online high fashion OUTLET shop with discounts galore for high fashion pieces coming from brands such as Alaia, Bottega Veneta, Chloe, Givenchy, Proenza Schouler and more. Like any other outlet, it has last season’s must have pieces discounted HUGELY! You just need to have a good eye for what you want and catch it before someone else snatches it right under your noses! Good pieces do get snagged fast – as in blink of the eye fast – so you’ll need to be on the constant watch out. Sign up for email updates and to their Twitter account to make sure you’re not too late to grab a piece of discounted luxury. Oh and one more tip – don’t second-guess yourself. Just grab and go!

FARFETCH (www.farfetch.com)

You know those independent boutiques that you see on your travel trips that sell luxury goodies at a bargain? Well, now you can shop from them in the comfort of your own rooms! Farfetch is basically an online marketplace for these boutiques. They’ve handpicked the best of the best, featuring pieces that are fashion forward but at the same time unique and independent. I love browsing through their selection because you’ll definitely find interesting, distinct and of course fashionable luxury pieces that are not that “mainstream”, if you know what I mean. Definitely worth your time, I know it’s worth mine!

So there you have it folks. A little list to tide you over and help you sort through the best of the best and the best that they have to offer. Don't forget to check Apples' blog for the top half of the list!
