Season's Round Up # 25: DIANE VON FURSTENBERG SPRING-SUMMER 2013
Diane von Furstenberg’s latest collection for SS2013 RTW Women’s embodied a sense of freedom and an electrifying persona. It exuded a sense of dynamism and life, which I think is something I haven’t seen in any of the other collections that have already run down the runway this season. You’ll see a lot of bright and fun hues mixed with what seems like cow spots or zebra stripes. I think what I loved the most from her collection would be the euphoric use of colors from the entire plethora available – from acid greens to luscious fuchsias to sky blues mixed with acidy lemon yellows. Further to that is how she brilliantly layered these colors with silhouettes that were free flowing and languid, without losing structure and still emphasizing the best assets of the female form. Oh! And of course who wouldn’t notice those high-tech looking glasses that the models wore down the runway [and even the designer herself toted during the show], which is apparently a collaboration between her and Sergey Brin from Google. You might think – did you read it right? Google? Yes Google! Seems they are now into producing this new piece of technology called Glass by Google, which can take photos and shoot videos all from your very own googles [pardon the pun]. Interesting no? Definitely something of note for me who is a slave to the lens! Diane von Furstenberg collection for SS13 truly depicts why she is dubbed as the First Lady of American Fashion. Her latest showing is nothing short of electrifying. From the barrage of famous faces who came to support her show – Sarah Jessica Parker, Oscar de la Renta, Valentino – to the runway where a host of little mirror doves twinkled to, of course the reason why we have a show in the first place, the clothes that were shown - all in all it was truly one bedazzling and unforgettable showing!
