Season's Round Up # 13: CHANEL FALL WINTER 2012 COUTURE COLLECTION
For the maestro's FW2012 Couture Collection, we saw him bringing back Chanel to its core - tweed interplayed with modernity in a way that is simply exquisite and exemplary. This is how a designer should converge a brand's roots with today's aesthetic and I dare say some can learn much from what Lagerfeld has achieved with this collection [ehem ehem Mr. Simons].
Anyway, back to the subject at hand, the pieces you see above are the ones that stood out for me. Loved the strong showing of tweed jackets topped with oversized scarves tied into bows. Apart from that, the play of fabric and patchwork colors was a phenomenal way of bringing classic pieces into the 21st century. Oh! And lest we forget the use of couture wool beanie hats and lurex to add spunk - genius! I think a lot of the pieces from the show can be considered as a.Must Haves - I myself have my beady fasione eyes on those couture beanies. They're so fashion forward! Lagerfeld certainly has a knack for making such mundane simple everyday things into covetable fashion forward pieces - but then if you think about it, that is the backbone of Chanel. If only cold weather was omnipresent in Singapore, then I think you'd be seeing me in all Chanel towards end of this year ;)
