Season's Round Up # 41: BALENCIAGA SPRING-SUMMER 2013

Nicolas Ghesquière sure as hell knows how to land a show that will be talked about, not just for the celebs that graced the show [i.e. Kristen Stewart] but for a collection that will definitely turn heads.

Everything was cropped, short and flourish-y. Opening the show with white sports-style bra alone was enough to draw your attention. What I enjoyed the most though would be the Flamenco inspired ruffles, giving the notion of peplum a whole new twist. And throughout you’ll notice a series of pleated skirts, shorts and jackets or suits. I loved the sleeveless trenches as well, which looked like long-ish vests if I think about it. Of course to balance things out, he used a subtle palette of whites, beige, eggshell blue and black, making up for the rather bold cuts; I’m happy to say though that it was not devoid of color at all. It’s an interesting collection to say the least – one that has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. And I think the crowd thoroughly enjoyed it if the clapping was any indication.

If you want to catch still shots of the couture featured, you can check this out. Enjoy! Can't wait to see people sashaying down the streets in Ghesquière's final collection for Balenciaga!
