A JAPANESE HAVEN: IKEDA SPA
It's always a brush of fate when you find a gem in a bustling city and I must say coming across Ikeda Spa is definitely one of them when you're in Singapore. Situated in Bukit Timah, Ikeda Spa has its roots pegged in Japan where most, if not all, treatments are Japanese inspired. Everything about the spa oozes Japanese - from the foyer to the reception area where you'll be seated in Japanese style mats and served tea. Moving inside, you'll be ushered into Japan itself where you'll find onsen baths, treatment rooms that are decorated fancifully art and a zen gardennestled within it's cozy location. Over and above the interiors, what struck me the most would be the treatments - which are honestly some of the best I've tried here in Singapore.
I tried several treatments for my visit and the most notable of it would be the onsen hot spring bath. The hot spring baths are extracted from 5 various parts of Japan [such as Hokkaido and Kyushu] and it was such a heavenly treat. After 5 minutes of soaking, I already felt as light as a feather floating in the clouds. My muscles were completely relaxed and they actually felt like putty. I'm highly recommending this treatment before going into any massage as it ensures that you have the most relaxing and de-stressing massage EVER! I tried the Ikeda Aromatherapy massage where you'll be asked to choose between 5 essential oils that simulate the 5 key elements, depending on your needs/concerns and as expected it was spectacular. I think I slept through the entire thing and believe me I rarely do!
If it weren't obvious enough, I am highly recommending a visit to this spa whether you're in Singapore to visit or whether you're here as a resident. It's worth every penny and I assure you relaxation to the nth degree. Truly a Japanese haven here in our very own backyard! For more information, visit Ikeda Spa's website [CLICK HERE].
